Before I go any farther… (it works!)

To avoid the crowds of Memorial Day, we drove to our mountain pasture to climb to the top of our fossil butte. I had hopes of finding something to use at the library summer reading where our theme is “Unearth A Story”. We’ll be talking fossils and dinosaurs. Wyoming is a great place for both! By now, you’re familiar with this butte, it stands silent witness to many activities. Don’t be mislead, this photo was a year ago… the buffalo wallows are dry this year.

The view is spectacular.

Even Bravo thinks so!
The search for fossils was not very successful… a few small ammonites? Seashells… whatever…

Definitely not museum quality… and small. The entire thing isn’t there, just an imprint. There’s better places to hunt for fossils! I’ve always wanted to go to one of those quarries that lets you keep all the fish fossils you find. That’s in southwest Wyoming… we just have shells and coral and sponges around here and they’re not “digable ”. It is fun to climb up there once in a while, though.
