Sports

Posted on September 22, 2024

Over Christmas vacation, Ten Sleep School will be in their new building. I’ve spent many an hour in this gym. It’s fun and sad to watch… but I won’t get over emotional… there’s more volleyball and basketball to go! Meanwhile, Quinlan and Jaxon are busy on the old football field.

Heifers – The Movie

Posted on September 21, 2024

From the wintery weather of March, branding, moving, feeding, then AI, blood testing, hauling, trailing, gathering, and trailing again… it comes down to this. These 18 month old heifers must pass this final test. If they fail to be pregnant, they will be sold. No matter their breeding or their looks, they must fit in…

Throwback Thursday: Close To the Action, v.2.0

Posted on September 19, 2024

This was first published September 21, 2014. Oh, my! That time of  year again… when the Good Doctor spends an entire day with his hand and arm being squeezed by the strong muscles of a cow’s ending digestive tract.  That explains why his entire left side is green by the time he’s done.  With their…

Lorelei’s Sunset

Posted on September 17, 2024

Days have passed and I’ve forgotten to post Lorelei’s sunset photos she took the other day. She and Quinlan had gone up the mountain with me to picnic with Victoria and cousin Wyatt. I was enjoying myself and Victoria was enjoying herself, and we really didn’t want to leave… plus I forgot it was a…

Work Day

Posted on September 16, 2024

I spent the night up on the mountain and totally forgot to post anything until I was almost to my destination and there’s no service up there, so I apologize. Today we pregnancy tested our heifers. Vernon and I worked at pushing the girls up the alley, most of the time, it’s not a high…

Born In A Barn ‘24

Posted on September 14, 2024

My annual “fun day off” has arrived. My sister and I went to Born in A Barn over by Sheridan, Wyoming. It’s a good time and every year it seems to change a bit. It seems like it used to have more vintage items, more repurposed items, than it does now. This time there were…

LIFE OF O. E. HOBACK as told to Edna Greet (Vernon’s grandmother). He had worked hard and had only bought a few necessities at the company store – an ax, two pairs of overalls, a jumper, some cotton gloves, some socks and two quilts.  But when the time came for the company to settle with…
