#TBT: Mountain Cowboy 2010 Video

Posted on January 7, 2021January 7, 2021

Delivery

Posted on January 5, 2021January 5, 2021

Today we took delivery of two sheds. We’ve wanted to expand our calving shed and finally figured out that two custom sheds and some continuous fence, ought to give us some more room. Yes, we could have built them ourselves, but the time saved of buying them, seemed to be the best option. All we…

Continuous Fence

Posted on January 4, 2021January 4, 2021

Fences. Corrals. The materials probably haven’t changed much since the development of barbed wire in 1867. Wood posts. Wood rails or barbed wire. Oh, sure, you can have cement posts and electric fence and pvc covered boards and maybe some high end components… but the biggest thing to hit the fence business lately… is continuous…

Ranchlife: Calves, Lions, and Snow Video

Posted on January 3, 2021January 3, 2021

This video from Red Dirt In My Soul covers ranchlife, calves, mountain lions and snow! The mountain lion incident has its own video HERE. Calves were separated, steers going back into the field, heifers being put on more feed. Bravo actually leaves my side to help Vernon kick some cattle out of the tall greasewood….

Peace

Posted on January 3, 2021January 3, 2021

Boy, I have my days ALL messed up. Just sat down at the computer and realized it’s SATURDAY, which means I’m supposed to make a video. Well, with 25 minutes left in the day, it’s not gonna happen! I can entertain you with pics from yesterday. I’ve repeatedly told Vernon I’d go out with him…

(Not-so) Wordless Wednesday: Well, That Was Pretty

Posted on December 30, 2020December 30, 2020

Well, I won’t make you wait until Friday… that new piece of equipment I showed you yesterday is NOT: a hay feeder. We have big square bales, and we’ve built two flaker/feeders for them the past few years. a bedding un-roller. Again, we don’t do round bales… even of straw, so, no. a wire roller….

Go Away

Posted on December 28, 2020December 28, 2020

The weather has been holding and the guys keep finding jobs that they’ve wanted to do for years. For Vernon, it has been fencing, for Brandon, it’s been cleaning! He’s cleaned our big long shed… and the other day I caught him tackling the ancient wood pile. If there’s anything that ranchers excel at, it’s…

Re-Red Video: November 24 – December 7, 2020

Posted on December 27, 2020December 27, 2020

This review of the blog, Red Dirt In My Soul, covers bull testing, a third birthday, some bald eagles, curious calves and a whitetail buck. Clearing greasewood, filling ruts, a frozen mountain spring… all in a normal ranching schedule, but made unusual because it was December! And we can’t forget Propaganda!
