Randomness and Cruisin’

Posted on October 6, 2009January 5, 2015

Today seems to be one of those days…

Randomness is everywhere…
Including my photos for the day…
Forgive the snapshot quality…
Vernon was on *cruise*…
ran1
Now really…
this guy had to drive from Idaho clear to Dubois for a humongous load of firewood?
Plus manage the devastating speed of 40 mph over Togwotee Pass!
I saw plenty of beetle killed trees in Idaho…
so there *must* have been more to his story.
He was NOT *cruising*.
ran2
This rainbow of grain augers caught my eye on the way into Idaho Falls…
so I managed a quick shot on the return trip.
Imagine the amount of wheat you must raise to have the need for all these augers.
ran3
Seriously…
if Vernon hadn’t been in *cruise* mode…
I would have stopped here.
On the left is a little red brick schoolhouse connected to…
A big brown barn/house connected to…
A big brown house/barn.
I think.
I probably would have spent money here.
Look at the garden arches…
I bet they were on sale since it is autumn/winter now…
I wanna go back…
<whines and sniffs>
ran4
Below Crowheart Butte sits these wonderful old cabins, sheds, barns with this glorious blue color for their metal roofs…
I want to be bold enough to use this color…
but I’m not.
I’d use charcoal grey or brown because I don’t like to stand out…
OK…
maybe a little part of me does…
because I LOVE this color and this look and if Vernon wasn’t in *cruise* mode my photo of the other buildings would have been in focus and you would have loved the look too!
ran5
Outside of Crowheart again…
I think I might have some things in common with these people…
I love the idea of the windmill power and the tipi at the same place…
ran6
I use this huge soccer ball many times during the day…
It is actually the NOAA radar out of Riverton, Wyoming.
The Wyoming radar images I get through Accuweather or the NOAA website come from this machine.
It makes a big difference in how we plan activities…
“Gonna rain?”
“Yup.”
<kicks dirt>
“Radar says it’ll be here in 40 minutes or so…”
“Let’s finish up… then go have a Pepsi and watch it rain!”
ran7
When I win the lottery…
You know…
THE BIG ONE…
I’m going to build Vernon one of these hay sheds…
He drools over them wherever we see one…
and the idea of not having to bust the top bale strings out of the ice and snow is even appealing to me…
ran8
Potato shed in Idaho with potatoes in the semis…
Where were these fields???
All we saw were wheat fields…
Miles and miles and miles of wheat fields.
And blurry power lines…
Cause we were *cruisin’*
ran9
One of Jackson’s elk antler arches…
Which, by the by, look their best with white Christmas lights and snow on them…
<JMHO>
My pile of elk antlers would stack about 3 foot high…
I make them into hat racks and coat racks and flower garden anti-dog devices…
I’m not talented enough to make tables or furniture from them…
but I am jealous of these arches…
for some unknown random reason they appeal to me.
If Vernon hadn’t been on *cruise* I could have taken a picture minus the Yukon Denali and windshield wipers…
Enjoy Randomness!
