Bull Sale Part Two

Posted on November 22, 2009January 7, 2015

The drama continues…

Although bulls will be bulls…
bsa
we didn’t get smashed by any, thankfully!
The crowd had arrived…
bsb
it was time for us to go inside and have lunch and relax a bit before the sale…
We had made our top three choices…
Now we just had to enjoy our beef and salads and desserts and wait…
However, I did take a short break for downtown Buffalo just to look into the antique stores for a possible Christmas present…
I found my favorite antique store doesn’t exist any more…
I was crushed…
but quickly moved to the others and scanned the counters…
I had no luck.
Oh, well…
ebay…
here I come!
The bull sale began soon after our return…
The bleachers were filling up…
bsc
I want you to notice the guys standing at the bottom of this photo…
They are Angus Breed Representatives…
or reps from Livestock magazines…
Their job is to work the crowd…
getting bids…
asking politely for a *bit* more…
There were five guys plus one for the internet/satellite bidders…
If you have Dish Network or get RFD-TV…
many sales are now broadcast so you could watch!
I always get a kick out of watching these guys.
bsd
The internet/satellite camera is in that little streetlight looking thing…
cool.
The sale ring looks like this one…
they all look the same don’t they?
Enter the bull…
Uh…
Here, bull…
Here, bully, bully…
bse
bsf
Hurry up! we have 170 bulls to sell!
and 110 females…
This board tells which one they’re bidding on…
bsh
He’s #79 in the catalog…
After he’s sold…
the info is posted on this board…
bsg
Here’s his board after he sold…
Buyer #910 bought him for $3000.00.
Just like that…
You then write them a check…
let them know if you want your bull delivered…
or if you’re taking him with you…
And you’re off for home.
Thanks for attending your first bull sale!
And…
yes…
we were lucky enough to purchase our first choice!
