When Vernon gets home for the night, I’m a firm believer in sitting down with him, talking about the day, or just being THERE with him. I could go do different things, but I just try to share the evening, even if he might fall asleep soon!
That’s when many of my crafts or projects get completed…
wool jewelry…
needle felt decoration…
or this!
When the grandsons started coming (two years ago, I’m ashamed to say) I wanted to have two baby blankets on hand to use for naptime. I hand quilted the one… and never got to the second! Knowing that spring is weeks away, I wouldn’t have time to hand quilt the second this winter either… so I machine quilted it…
My machine (or me, possibly!) isn’t really good at it… but I did huge free style loops. It’s easier to see on the back…
I had to keep flipping it over on the floor to see where I’d sewn… but I finally finished it. Now to drag out the blanket binding and at least hand sew that on over the next few nights. Perhaps it won’t have the time in it my mom would have done, like I did on the other Roy Rogers quilt I made, but better this way, than staying in my fabric stash forever!
