Good ol’ winter isn’t done with Wyoming yet! Interstate 80 was closed all day yesterday and today due to blizzard conditions. Two feet of snow fell on Casper Mountain. Here, thankfully, we received just a skiff.
As usual, Vernon says it’s much dryer just a bit farther north… which is good, since wet conditions and brandings don’t mix and we’re planning on branding on Saturday! The rest of the week is supposed to be nicer, with 72˚ predicted for the weekend. Yay!
I started some of the cooking for said branding… and I had a couple of helpers throughout the day. Quinlan in the morning. Jaxon in the afternoon.
Quinlan and I went to feed the baby chickens, and I thought you’d like to see how they’ve grown!
Aren’t they BIG???? Dally always tries to sneak in and sit in the corner and watch the babies. I think she’d adopt them if she could figure out HOW…
The look of concern on her face is just priceless!
After capturing and releasing about 5 chicks… it was time to go. Quinlan did VERY well being gentle and NOT CHASING, but we didn’t push our luck! Dally kept a close eye on the proceedings, and if it’s warm tomorrow, the chicks may even get to venture outside!
Find me here!
These photos brought such a smile to my face and warmth to my heart! So cute and precious, all of them–Quinlan, Dally and the chicks. It shows we can all just get along! ;o}
What a terrific day for you and your cute little helpers! Dally looks
loving and vigilant.
Wanted you to know, I didn’t get your post today in my-email…but I
managed to access it thru a shortcut I have on my desktop. Strange…
adorable pictures and Quinlan is so cute and gentle in handling them… Dally is so sweet to protect them too…
Great pictures. How great is that the littlest ranchers are learning to take care of the chickens.
Wow, so much bigger even since my Easter visit. Good for Quinlan to be nice to the chickens!
Have fun branding 🙂
