I spent most of the morning in a dentist’s chair. Thankfully, they took the time to move the process along… I hate having short appointments and then go back in two weeks… and then another two weeks. I love that they understand when you live far enough away, you don’t want to spend so much time traveling!
I’m starting the weeding of my calendar photos.
Can you help me out?
Here’s the not-so-close color version…
And the close-up black and white version.
Feel free to post which is your favorite here… or follow Red Dirt In My Soul on facebook… where you can vote by liking or sharing! I’ll be posting more over there as well as the weeding of the calendar finalists continues!

I like the black and white one–like Della says, it shows so much character, and a thoughtful feeling.
I like both pictures but they aren’t the same. I love the old straw hat. It has been a few miles in the dust and heat. It shows best in the color picture but the detail on the sleeve and hand is wonderful on the black and white one. I have a guy like that, sweaty hat, one snap only done on the cuffs. Fore arms and wrists so developed from hard work that the second snap is not comfortable snapped.
An eye for detail… I feel like the b&w tells more of a story, more character…
I like the pic in color!
what happened to Colt?
I personally would love to see the color one in black and white as not a close up. They are all great though:)

Puppy – one final thought: Rimrock’s Flaming Star

Color. Like the contrast of all the different shades. Puppy name – how about Dirt to go with your blog and the color she is.
black and white version, more dramatic
Yesterday I spent time in the dentists chair also. YUCK. Anyway my vote is for the sepia tone close up.
Puppy name: She strikes me as an “Emnmie” with her beautiful gentle face.
I vote for the colored photo. If interested google Photographys “Rule of Three” technique. I was taught this moons ago when I started learning about photography. I use this technique every time I snap a shot now. Hope this helps you as much as it has me. Keep up the amazing work! I have been following your blog for a few years now and always look forward to your next post.
color
I’m voting for color, because I love seeing your landscape! I like the b/w one, too.
How about Rosetta?
My vote is for the color. I Love the black and white, but that is because I know the man.
I like the black and white best it’s been mentioned before but how about firefly?
Puppy Puppy – how about “Meadow”?
I vote for the color one.
Also sending another puppy name: Rosie
I vote for the color print.
I like the sense of space that the colors and butte in the background give…
I like the close-up black and white! It shows a lot of character!
I enjoy the color version as the landscape is so very different from my Worcestershire hills, still very green as summer lingers longer than normal.
Personally, I like the color version best.
