Grasslands Exhibit

Posted on July 3, 2015

Tonight was Ten Sleep Library’s opening reception for the Wyoming Grasslands exhibit.  It opened in Ucross last month, we’re the 2nd of 14 libraries in the state to host this for a month.  I have been working on hanging the 41 photos, black and white and color, for a week!  There were lots of trips up and down the ladder, as, since we are a small library in a small town, we don’t have dedicated space for exhibits.  That meant hanging photos over computer desks and book shelves and work space and magazine racks!  It was a challenge, but I think it turned out just fine.

We had grass displays and seed from the local FFA chapters, a short talk from Trey Davis, Land Manager of the Nature Conservancy, Worland’s mayor and wife, great local people, and even the exhibit’s graphic designer was there!  You can’t tell, but we had grass in green Ball canning jars as center pieces with our food… This is a bad photo of one, but they looked so much better in person!

If you’d like to see some of these photos, there’s a short slideshow here.  If you’re in Wyoming, check to see when it’s coming to a library near you!

Anyway, one event is complete and a success… Tomorrow comes with some final work on our Fourth of July float then supper with Wyoming author Craig Johnson and wife, Judy… I know, rough duty!  The parade on the Fourth is at 10 am, come wish Grand Marshal Craig Johnson a cool breeze… It’s supposed to be HOT!

I “second” all the comments, and give you 41 stars for hanging 41 pictures in addition to all the other creative things you did to make this show a success!
