#TBT – Indian Dress

So many of you liked my cradleboard I made, I thought I’d share my Indian dress I also made back in the day. It now hangs on the wall in my Indian room. A neighbor helped me with the design and beadwork. It is actually two pieces so I could wear the top with jeans if desired.

My sister also made a dress that she used as her wedding dress. This photo was taken at the World Atlatl Championship held at Fort Caspar in Casper, Wyoming.

  1. Carol, that is a beautiful dress and you look beautiful in it. I am wondering if you have some Native American in your ancestry, and if so, what tribe? If you don’t mind me asking.

      • Thank you. I’m sure you are very proud of your Choctaw ancestry. I have quite a few relatives in the N.E. corner of Oklahoma and have gathered that there is a strong presence of Native Americans in that area of Oklahoma but didn’t know what tribes were in that area primarily. Their history there would be very interesting, I’m sure. I should do some research on that.

  2. These dresses are very impressive, both in the design and the execution. It was so clever to have made a two piece dress because of the flexibility. I’m wondering how many hours went into the making of your gorgeous dress?

  3. Oh wow, they are so gorgeous! I can’t fathom the number of hours represented there. Your talents are certainly numerous. Those are just so amazing!
