So sorry about last night… I was ready to blog… late at night, as usual… and my internet went out. Or down. Or wherever internet type things go when they’re not *there*. I tried. I gave it half an hour…
I went to bed!
So…
A couple of my days lately have been spent touring. One day last week and then yesterday. Most people might go to a scenic spot, or to visit relatives, or to a show… maybe shopping… maybe to a casino or museum… Nope. Not me. I joined with people to go tour LIBRARIES!
The amazing news is that Worland, the town of about 5,000 people, where I do my shopping… is getting a new library. Well… they’re remodeling an old building into a new library! Anyway, it is exciting! I joined with Library Board members, a County Commissioner, an architect, and others to see some of Wyoming’s newer libraries in Buffalo, Douglas, Glenrock, and Cody.
I took photos of computer stations, a fantastic mural, children’s areas, teen areas, research areas…

unique furniture, filing systems, staff areas, carpet…

IT closets full of blue internet cables, Friends areas, tables, gaming stations, shelving, crafts, programs, artwork, more shelving…

meeting rooms, storage rooms, study rooms, special collections, display boards, kitchens, balconies, outdoor areas, bathrooms, and our collective favorite… fireplaces!

Who knows what Worland’s new library will look like, but we should have managed to get more than a few ideas!

Long time reader, first time poster here. I’m blessed to work in one of the libraries Carol visited. You can learn more about the Indian art installation at the Park County Library Facebook page. There is a short film there with the artist’s description.
I can check on the artists of the painting and sculpture above the fireplace and report back, too.
The plaque on the statue reads “Bronco Buster by Frederic Remington.” The painting is by Daryl Poulin.
Re-purposing an older building to serve a new clientele – smart! I especially like
what they did to make the fireplace! Love the artwork and sculpture (possibly a Remington reproduction). Thanks for sharing.
Those pictures look amazing. Exciting places WYO libraries. Look forward to seeing photos of the new Worland library when finished.
What a lovely library. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for sharing Carol! Could you tell us more about the hanging artwork of the Indian ladies. How unique and so colorful and different dresses? Any meaning or significance?
I was at the back of the group and didn’t hear any of the explanation, except, of course, that it is based on Indian ledger art…but I bet I know someone who would tell us. I will get back to you!
