I took this last week before our trip.
I’m not a very good dog trainer, but he seems to have caught on to what I want him to do… which is to find the antler sheds. There is a market for antlers, and though I’ve always just been a “let’s go hiking and see what we see” kinda girl, with help, I may be more diligent than just wandering!
Neither one of us is perfect… watch til the end and you’ll see what I mean!
Find me here!
Great training session! I taught my ES, Dusty (Cimarron Stardust), the command “other one.” That would have let Bravo know to ignore the antler in your hand and go find another one. It also works for items the dog doesn’t know the name of. Show him the item and say, “other one” and he’ll go look for another one. If you want to know how I teach that command, let me know.
What fun. I’ve watched people train their dogs to find “stuff” at a local park and am not quite sure how they get the idea across, but I know it can be done. I think the secret is just keeping at it and stopping before the dog gets tired of the game.
The chuckles were really fun.
That was a joy to watch and a good chuckle at the end! 🙂
Sending “thumbs” ‘er PAWS UP from Sandy to Bravo! He’s gorgeous and also doing well at this new task!
I carry treats on our hikes and Tank brought me an antler. Hoping for more. Makes hiking a bit more fun for all. Good for you and Bravo.
good dogs, but the poor kitty gets left out–
Good job! He is absolutely a beautiful boy!
