Knock On Wood

Posted on October 9, 2020October 9, 2020

After the first big snow when I moved into this house, I knew there had been a faulty design way back in 1952.

The existing roofline allowed snow to plummet off the roof and pile in front of the door. To walk out some mornings, you had to put your shoulder to the screen door and SHOVE. I’ve not been a fan.

I’ve wanted a deck and a porch and new windows for this house since I moved in. Finally, one of them is happening.

I designed a simple covered porch. Two large logs are the main focus. We had to calculate the height allowing for space to fit under the soffit of the main house. We also needed a tall enough pitch for my special item.

The rest of my crew showed up from preg testing the last of our cows just in time to have Daniel help with some heavy lifting.

Tomorrow we finish the roof and hang my special item.

Knock on wood must be some kind of a hint. So far I haven’t a clue. But, will be looking forward to seeing the finished product.

That is gonna look Great! Most metal roofs around here put metal taps low on the roof to help with the snow problem, but your addition looks so much nicer! Can’t wait to see the finished product-
