Twenty degrees with a slight snow falling… This morning was cold and not-so-pleasant. After lunch the sun did come out, although it only got up to 26 degrees, and I pulled myself away from crafting to go get some fresh air and photos!
I ran into Vernon and Daniel and a neighbor working on our cattle guard.
Cattle guards, like everything else, need maintenance. This one had filled up with dirt from runoff. Vernon had cleaned it out, pulling the cattle guard off first, of course. The young guys were just cleaning the edge up a bit with their shovels.
Daniel guides the small piece into place.
Then came the big section… ta-da! No horse or cow will think they can cross this now!

Well done on cleaning the cattle guard. We call them cattle grids and we have two. One at each entrance to the housing estate. No cattle, but 40 years ago when houses were built it was sheep who wanted to cross the grid. Some very clever ones came an alternate route and enjoyed our newly planted flowers. Sadly no more sheep as increasing traffic caused too many accidents. Those drivers who don’t know what 30mph means.
knowing how my mind works, I’m a worrier, I’d put a wire gate over the cattle guard- kind’a defeats the reason for the cattle guard-
Man, what a job!
And what are the tires for?? there’s a huge one on the R by the wooden pole!
