Sundog Sledding

Posted on December 22, 2020December 22, 2020

I’ve spent a great deal of time with the grandkids this week… my favorite photo, well, ok, one of my favorites… was this one. A sundog appeared while we were sledding. Always a favorite of mine, sundogs are even more fleeting than summertime rainbows.

They make me remember so many things… one of my very first blog posts, seeing them often with Lucas and Elsa while remodeling my studio… and then naming my studio, Sundog Studio. Even in a roundabout way, they make me think of my dad, who, when employed by Rainbow Resources, he would say, when seeing a rainbow in the sky, that his office was calling and sending him a message. It made me laugh every time he said it.

While your Christmas may not be the usual this year, enjoy your memories of good ones. Share them. Make someone laugh. Maybe someday people will look at a sundog, and remember me, and laugh with a memory.

Not sure I’ve ever seen a sundog (I live a sheltered life in sunny California), but if I ever do, I’ll for sure think of you.

A different year for sure…very glad you are enjoying family time. Missing all my kids and extended family, scattered around the country. Next year will be a special one as we appreciate as never before.

Great photo. It will be a strange Christmas but it will be what each one of us makes it. More lockdowns in UK. So many unable to be with loved ones. But thankfully we have technology to bring us together and make different memories.

we had wooden sleds with steel runners, but sun dogs never change- I live on old memories.
