Surprise!

Posted on June 13, 2022June 13, 2022

(Last night, I was tired and fading fast… I couldn’t find my picture i wanted to post, my eyes were slamming shut and my internet kept wafting in and out. Finally, I just quit and left it all!)

A loon! Really. While I know they’re supposed to be around Yellowstone, I haven’t ever seen one here! I didn’t realize that’s what it was… I was zoomed in so far, it was difficult to make out.

Then there was another one… a unique bird for our area…

Wilson’s Phalarope.

I identified it later, as the cows were getting away from me and I had to turn them back.

I’m also in about the same boat this evening… I must retire! Enjoy, folks!

So neat to have a loon! I have never heard of the other bird.
Heard there was flooding in Yellowstone …maybe they came over from there?
Thanks as always for taking the time to send out the pictures!

Nice finds! Love the look of loons. I have never seen a Wilson’s Phalarope other than in a picture. Is this a duck you have seen before in Wyoming?
