Doggone It!

Posted on August 14, 2022

We had a partial day off… so while we decided to haul salt and mineral to the cows… we also agreed to hike around, look for rocks and arrowheads and buffalo skulls and whatever we could find! In other words, not drive directly to the salt feeders and then rush home to work on something else!

Rain was threatening as well, and we hoped we’d be soaking wet on the way down the mountain. That part failed, we didn’t receive one drop, unfortunately. Neither did we find a cool rock, arrowhead, buffalo skull, or anything else! We did have a nice picnic, put a wandering bull back in our pasture, and watched fish jump out of a pond after mayflies.

The cattle look good…

This little girl struck quite the pose for a long time…

I admired Vernon’s work of putting in a pipe so we now can cross the creek without a deathgrip and closed eyes (on my part, of course!)

The part that made me giggle, was when we drove by a neighbor’s pond, and the trout were jumping out of the water for mayflies! I have video to prove it… and a screenshot to help you visualize that.

Nope. Didn’t have my fishing pole with me either, doggone it!

Nothing beats a jumping trout. Sounds like a good day, but no rain.
