Down the hill one more time!
Four cowboys and two four-wheelerboys. They had gathered the pasture yesterday and froze with a brutally cold wind. Today was much nicer, with a slight breeze and warmer temperature. While I didn’t shed any clothes except my neck scarf at the end, the beginning of the day really was pleasant.
Down the hill at the next gate, we held up the herd while the next pasture was cleaned up. We would be trailing right by some neighbor’s cattle, and they needed shoved out of the way first so they wouldn’t mix with ours. Mission accomplished and on we go.
While they had plenty of grass in their mountain pasture, we decided to bring them down before the weather next week. We have plenty of grass both places, so just being nervous about a storm was our incentive.
I was not the Boss Lady leading them down the hill… I rode ol’ Panama and us ”old folk” stayed at the back and let the young guys trot down the mountain with their young knees and hips!
We made it by 2:00, sat down for lunch, and trailered off in good time. Chalk this one up as a pretty good day.

Such wonderful muted colours in the photos. And that blue sky was spectacular.
Such a bright blue sky and the purple mountains in the distance, That makes a good day even better! I took a drive yesterday to see the gorgeous fall colors in the leaves south of here. Autumn is gorgeous here.
Love the scenic pictures the cattle look great. And seeing Panama’s ear! So Good to know the “ old folks” can still be out on the trail! Thanks so much for sharing!
