Getting Close

Posted on February 17, 2023

I’m having problems downloading photos off my camera… but the dogs and I helped bring the heifers up close to the calving shed in preparation for calving season today. We peeled off 37 cows that were with them and took them to a field.

It’s amazingly awesome when the cows know where to go and simply walk out like they got the memo.

Indy is very unsure about getting *in* the side by side but is happy when she’s inside. She needs to learn to pay attention to wheels a bit better. She had to ride a few extra times because I couldn’t slow down in the snow to keep from getting stuck, but she wouldn’t watch me to get out of the way. That will come with time. She did pretty good around the cows, not barking, and giving them the space they needed. Same with the horses.

Bravo rode with Vernon for a bit, he’s always excited to bite some cows!

I’ll share more photos when I get them downloaded.

Sending a ‘shout out’ to Indy as she is learning SO much every day. She is maturing nicely and I hope she gets more comfortable getting into the side-by-side. I bet a treat on the floor or seat would be just the right thing!
