Victoria texted me a photo of her three boys out observing the eclipse this morning. Oh, crumb. I’ve been all in a tizz trying to get things organized to attend HunterFest and the Harvest Dinner. I had spaced it! I was just loading stuff in the car when I decided I should grab a welding helmet and take it with me. I zipped to the shop and met Megan zipping in from her side. We all made a mad dash for the helmets! The view was about at peak but I was already late and the next 20 minutes were spent driving to Ten Sleep instead of watching the eclipse.

My welding helmet became a hit with kids and adults. Some didn’t know there was an eclipse. Some didn’t know what a welding helmet was or how to look through it. (I know, right?) Some weren’t interested. Some people tracked me down to look through it. There were many “oh, wow’s!”, and “that’s so cool!”

Finally, with time to play with my settings, I managed a shot with my camera.

It had been 60-70% covered at peak time. It wasn’t near the impressive show we received a few years ago, but still quite the treat to see!

What an exciting adventure, even if you missed part of the eclipse! Your willingness to share your welding helmet and the reactions you got from people must have been a memorable experience. The shot you managed with your camera is fantastic. A delightful treat indeed!
Great photo. We did not have that event in the UK:-(. We did however see a small (under 50 I’m guessing) cows moved from one field to another via the beach. Those cows were not keen on the salt water or the waves so moved away once they had checked them out. This was shown on our BBC Country File TV show.
