I didn’t go help very much, but the day brought the end of the big tire project. Installed in a new place, uphill a stone’s throw, and away from a gate… the huge tire had found its next home. It was plumbed in with new pipe, leveled, and surrounded by old concrete pieces to keep the cows from tromping down the dirt around it. It seems there’s always a water tank that needs work, but, next to fences, I suppose they’re the ranch infrastructure that gets the most pressure. Thirsty beasts that can weigh 1200 pounds can get to shoving and pushing and they can bend or break things in a hurry.
I didn’t really take a good interior shot of the tank but the two cross pipes above the tank are situated to provide some protection for the intake float and overflow. I also took the photo before Daniel had rewired the fence across and up to the tank. Putting it halfway through the fence line provides water to cows no matter which side of the pen they’re in.
It’s not in operational mode yet, they need to tie it into the main pipeline, but it looks pretty!
Looks very good. A great photo with wonderful shades of colour.
Looking good! Where did this gigantic tire come from???
