Not the Prettiest

Posted on November 21, 2023

Sometimes there’s a whoopsie. Our heifers pushed up against this fence line last week.

It’s old. It sits on the edge of a steep bank. The pressure of so many yearling heifers just was too much.

The benefit to me was a pile of poles that will be sawn into firewood.
Our choice for replacements were 12’ sections of pipe, pounded in with the skid steer.

It was a good plan… until the pipe hit the buried gypsum bed and tried to slip down the hill… it was all the skid steer could do to get them down as far as it did.

Daniel is using the level but no matter how hard we tried to keep the posts in line and level, we were defeated by the geology! When the rails are added, it will be a stout fence, but it won’t be the prettiest we’ve ever built.
