My new favorite craft? Making snowflakes from small brown lunch bags! I made a white bag one last year, but found the white snowflake on the white walls of the library didn’t show up. Switching to brown made a ton of difference.
The ones I made for the library can be seen in the windows. I don’t like them since they turned out more round than spikey. I have upped my game, though.
The secret? Cut across at an angle!
Hot glue along the bottom and up the center seam. Stack them with the folded bottom down. Now I’m a stickler for six pointed snowflakes normally, but it doesn’t always work here. Six bags is often not enough.
Unfold it and see if it reaches the full circle without deforming. I had to add two bags to make this work. They’re easy, they’re quick, and each one is unique!

These look cool!
Second comment about this: I Googled “How to make snowflakes out of paper bags” and found some tutorials/videos. Can’t wait to try my hand at this craft! It looks pretty easy after all.
Love it!
Wow. They look amazing.
Those are NIFTY!!!!! I’d like to try it but I don’t understand the function of the hot glue. Does it hold the bags together???
I hope this makes it past the critical error or what ever it is, because I’d really like to know.
Yes, the hot glue holds the bags together. I suppose regular glue might hold, but the hot glue works well in this situation.
Simply beautiful! Maybe this would be another craft for your grandkids to try!
Looking from one to the next is like peering into a kaleidoscope. Simply lovely!
Very pretty!
