Wow. If you haven’t, you should read yesterday’s comment section! B. gave me a thorough explanation of what probably happened with my stain, which basically boiled down to: since I didn’t strain my steel wool from my vinegar, the solution kept oxidizing while also getting stronger while I used it up. Therefore… more red. Very logical once it was explained to me! The answer? Start over.
Argh! But, yeah, probably the right thing to do. I *am* going to town Wednesday and I could easily buy the “real” stuff. I was just trying to get going on the project.
My inspiration runs along these lines…
Just a few ideas off of Pinterest. I like the warm wood top. I’m leaning towards a grey stain for the lower part of the table but then have some impressionistic flowers come 3/4 up the leg, Indian Paintbrush for one table, lupine for the other. Now , though I’m leaning towards a black stain for the top. Not black paint, because that will show every speck of dust, but maybe a black stain wouldn’t be as bad.
I don’t know…
I don’t want so much paint… I like the idea of the wood grain showing through.
It’ll be unique, whatever way I go!
Super project! I like the “samples” you featured and think you’ll have
a lot of fun creating yours.
