The cameras are back in business with Daniel’s herd busy calving… Vernon drove down the four miles the other night as a cow was calving. By the time he arrived, she had calved, so I just kept an eye on Vernon and the cow anyway.

For easiest transport, a baling twine is looped around a hoof, and the slimy, wet calf is quickly pulled into a freshly bedded enclosed pen.

Vernon tucked the newborn into a corner, safely out of mom’s nervous hooves.

The cow was turned in to settle in a nice warm spot with her new baby. And I watched it all from afar.
Find me here!
I agree with Joan. The excitement of new life, in the warm from afar.
The best way to watch! No going out into the cold.
