After a calf is born, it gets an eartag to match its momma’s. Whatever you put on an eartag is up to the rancher. Individual numbers. Brands. Names. Dates. Phone numbers. We’ve always made do with the ranch’s eartags. Until now.

While we’ve always bought the cheaper style, this time we decided to buy the pricier tags for our own personal cows. They’re cool because they have three layers…. A black layer sandwiched between two blue layers.

With a dremel tool, you can peel back the top layer, exposing the black underneath.

Vernon requested the cow’s individual number, our name, and our phone number. On the calf’s smaller tag, he wanted a matching number and the bull that was their daddy.

Since their daddy was “Craftsman”, that was the best I could do.
While it’s a mess to carve them, I do like the looks of this pricier style of tag and you don’t have to worry that the ink will fade like on the old ones.
Looks like a mess to make , but the end result is cool.
Looks like the ‘new and improved’ tags will hold up better.
Pretty cool! I love the turquoise blue too.
