Time for a new project!
The outhouse by the mountain corral has been bad for years. Leaning. Door broken and hard to open. It was just bad. Two years ago, Vernon bought a very tinny, light weight, “shed” that he converted into an outhouse but it was put over by my cabin. It wouldn’t have held up by the corral… too much wind and snow! I pushed again for a new outhouse… and when Vernon made a face, I just said I’d build one. Vernon quickly agreed… so here I am.

Don’t look closely. I know I’ve made mistakes. I’m using some very crooked 2×4’s that had been used for cement work. Once Brandon helped me stand it up, I put it together… then literally sat there and debated if I liked the setup. I’ve decided I don’t. I think I’ll take the walls apart and make it narrower and longer.

But, hey… it’ll be stout and hold up. I have to find something for the outside walls… and I have a lot of floating flooring that would look kinda cool. Then I’ll need some tin for the roof… Time to scavenge some more supplies before I can finish.

Good for you!!
Good for you!!
Indelicate question, but I have to ask, will it be a pit toilet when all is done? If not, how will it work? In any case, I understand not wanting it by your cabin.
And by the way, yea you!! Awesome to just say “I’ll do it” and just START!!!
My experiences with outhouses have been hiking in the Sierras years ago.
Yes it will be a pit toilet perhaps with culvert edges… we shall see. The tinny outhouse is by my cabin and I’m very grateful for it. There’s less snow and wind over there, so this outhouse must be sturdy to withstand 6’ drifts and wind.
Yea you! Plus free material. Win win and brain cells moving.
