After working on Daniel’s pipeline project, Vernon decided to move over to my place. We were so happy with the way his project on the Mesa turned out, we’ve decided to try the same thing at my “pond”. My pond refuses to hold water for long, most likely because it sits on the Ten Sleep Formation which is full of cracks. Vernon will dig it out, we will line it, then fence it off and siphon to a tank beyond the fence. So he started…

The left side will be my pond, then up and over the dike to a tank down on the right.

The difference between the Mesa and my little spot, though, is mine is fed by Mother Nature, not a solar pump. She is beginning to be a little less cranky… with powerful showers localized in spots often causing flash flooding. I spotted such a storm driving off the mountain.

That little area got quite the shot… and not a drop at my house! Ranchers are eternal optimists, though… and some day my little pond will have water again.
