New Country – Wedding

Posted on August 18, 2026August 18, 2026

We were invited to a wedding of a local man… I’d call him a boy since he’s younger than Daniel and Brandon… He was to marry a neighbor “girl”, one from the other side of “the hill” (the Big Horn Mountains) whose family property is next to ours.
If we drove the “normal” way to the wedding, it’d be 20 miles to Ten Sleep, 60 to Buffalo, 45 to Kaycee, and about 26 miles to their ranch. Approximately 150 miles. However, if we drove to the top of our mountain pasture about 12 miles, then kept going over the top, maybe another 8 or 9 miles, we would be there! The catch? It was definitely a side by side trail, one we’d always been curious about!

We love seeing new country and this trail did not disappoint.

We had caravanned with Daniel and his family. That’s them in front of us on the VERY rocky trail.

The valley kept getting more and more visible.

We stopped for a bit… we were going to be way early for the wedding if we kept going, so Tess used the time for portraits while everyone was dressed up.

A mile further and we had arrived.

Best wishes to D. and N.! And thanks for permission to sneak in the back way to your lively celebration!
