#TBT: Traffic Report, v.2.0

Posted on March 17, 2022March 17, 2022

This was first posted March 17, 2011. Now for Wyoming State Highway 434… Traffic appears to be light today with surface conditions favorable.   From milemarker 17 north to 15 you will find a few fresh patties, but otherwise dry…   There are a few cattle northbound but WDOT doesn’t believe it will slow down…

Wavy Platter

Posted on March 15, 2022March 15, 2022

When I’ve gone to town lately, I’ve hit up the dollar store and the thrift store looking for white ceramic items. I found this wavy platter… and jumped in with my alcohol inks. At that point I decided I didn’t like the clouds in the sky… so I wiped them off! I then added a…

Fail

Posted on March 14, 2022March 14, 2022

It seems like I’ve tried everything. I’ve ordered baby chicks and had the post office get them here quickly. I’ve had the post office take days to get them here and every one was dead. I’ve tried to move broody hens and their eggs into quiet, secluded areas only to have them abandon the eggs….

Brutal

Posted on March 12, 2022March 12, 2022

It was brutal. Cold. Snow. Slight breeze. From 50 degrees to -25… it’s hard on everything. The guys were working themselves to exhaustion. Tess was right in there, Megan and I helped when we could. Although most of the heifers have calved, the cows started calving too. Anything born in that weather needed to be…

Wonderful, Baby

Posted on March 11, 2022March 11, 2022

Why is it when I am lucky enough to see cool things on my commute home, that 9/10 of the photos I take are going to be blurry? I get that I’m excited, but I’ve done this often enough that I’m pretty good about getting a good rest on my car window or seat or…

#TBT: What Say You?, v.2.0

Posted on March 11, 2022March 11, 2022

This was first published March 11, 2011. Wow. Spent all day in Worland. Spent an embarrassing amount on groceries. Spent too much on dog food. Spent lots of enjoyable time visiting with Ten Sleep people I haven’t seen for a while…  took me FOREVER to make it through the grocery store! Spent NOTHING at the…

It Works

Posted on March 8, 2022March 8, 2022

Daniel begins the steps every newborn calf gets on our place. Soon after they’re born, depending on the weather, calves will be tagged with their mother’s number, an ear mark will be cut, and bull calves will be banded. If the weather is too cold, we won’t tag them. Ears can easily be frozen and…

If I Can

Posted on March 7, 2022March 8, 2022

A little crafting always makes me feel better… dishes are left to soak, the floor awaits mopping, but still… I wanted to try a new alcohol ink technique. Place ink on your prepared surface. Let dry. You’re supposed to use a weak blow dryer to push the ink around once a drop or two of…

Happy Endings

Posted on March 6, 2022March 6, 2022

While the heifers are continuing to calve under close supervision, a calf was born early in the cows. We keep an eye on them as well, driving through them, counting them while feeding to make sure nothing has wandered off. But this little guy came a bit early. Spunky and lively though he was, there…
