Well Done

Posted on March 30, 2025March 30, 2025

He might take off on a short run, chasing those irritating and noisy prairie dogs. But he’ll always keep an eye on me. When I move my CanAm, he’s there to jump in the back, ready to be by my side for any adventure. He’s patient. Well done, Bravo.

Throwback Thursday: Ten Things You Don’t Know About: Honey Bees

Posted on March 27, 2025March 27, 2025

This was first published March 24, 2015. 1.  First of all, and this is the one I want you to know for sure… Although there are 4,000 (!) species of bees in North America, the honey bee is NOT native to North America.  Some list the date of 1622 for honey bees’ first arrival in…

Round and Round

Posted on March 25, 2025March 25, 2025

As Vernon and I worked on the last gate brace, we had help. Can you see the smiling face? Lacee was riding along as Daniel used the post pounder. She seemed to be having quite a good time. I’m sure there are photos of my kids building fence with Johnny… this scene hits close to…

Rebuilding and Replacing

Posted on March 24, 2025March 24, 2025

I helped Vernon today, rebuilding and replacing worn out gate posts and braces. They were not pretty, we decided… There were all kinds. You can’t tell, but the cliff has eroded out from under this corner… One post good, the other… not so much… Vernon will come back and finish all the details. We just…

Calving Video

Posted on March 22, 2025March 22, 2025

The first video I’ve made in a long time! 875 was kind enough to let me film her calving, keeping the important bits aimed my way. She’s a good momma!

Throwback Thursday: Still Cook, v.2.0

Posted on March 20, 2025March 20, 2025

This was first published March 18, 2015. Sometimes having all these outbuildings is a blessing… and sometimes a curse.  It means you have room to store STUFF, which means you have a tendency to store STUFF.  Honestly, I’m not too ashamed (most of the time) to dig out some old toys for my grandkids instead…
