Halloween

Posted on October 31, 2020October 31, 2020

Oh, these kids… The prairie girls. The cavalryman. Their hero! That’s the Viking girl, Astrid, from How To Train Your Dragon. Plus… a zombie… Megan has a great photo of Lorelei, and, believe me, she is a Viking you don’t want to mess with! Somehow, it didn’t transfer to my phone… I hope you had…

Quiet

Posted on October 30, 2020October 30, 2020

Well, two days of library work… then today I helped a friend unload a shipping container storage unit and haul it to her house. That means there’s not a ton of “ranch” photos and activities I’ve been involved in. I stayed up late with Tess last night sewing last minute Halloween costumes, because, of course,…

#TBT: Cow Work, v.2.0

Posted on October 29, 2020October 29, 2020

This was first posted October 31, 2009. Today, again, was filled with cow work…The cows we brought down yesterday were scattered far and wide this morning. They didn’t like where we put them… Not enough grass… Not where they wanted to be… So they left… Well, some left… These were up on the hill…trying to…

Q&A Video

Posted on October 27, 2020October 27, 2020

Another video. Maybe I can post twice a week? One that’s photos and videos accompanied by music… my “Re-Red” videos… and maybe one where I’m talking… I can do Q&A sessions, teach a craft, share my wisdom (insert laughing here!) or just talk… Today’s the first attempt at that. To kick it off, I went…

Bear Burn

Posted on October 26, 2020October 26, 2020

Yes, I should only be braiding reins. Yes, I should just finish painting up the rocks I have collected. No, I probably should not have started a wood burning project… but, I did. Frigid days are perfect for indoor crafting! This little guy belonged to a friend… and he was looking a tad bit rough….

Posted on October 25, 2020October 25, 2020

Red Dirt In My Soul, a photographic journal of Wyoming ranch life, covers fall scenery, the Hunter Fest, a building project, and moving cattle off of the mountain top in disagreeable weather. This video covers the week of October 11 – October 17, 2020. It also includes a remembrance of “Eden” who died October 12….

Panoramas

Posted on October 24, 2020October 24, 2020

Tess took some panorama shots for me… I think they’re pretty *and* awesome! There’s a weird glitch in that one, her horse must have moved! Depending on how you’re viewing these, you may be able to double-click on them to enlarge them and then increase their size from there. It’s grand country!

Off Into the Snow

Posted on October 23, 2020October 23, 2020

Snow. Lots of it. Six degrees this morning. Perfect day to move some cows, right? Once again, I opted for babysitting and sent the youngsters and Vernon off into the snow. There is a soothing look to fresh snow and blue skies. It looks pretty… but I know how Panama can trip through this section…

#TBT: Extreme Lifestyle, v.2.0

Posted on October 22, 2020October 22, 2020

This was first posted October 30, 2009. Today was a day of extremes…First thing in the morning I was on horseback riding to the top of our Mesa pasture…The eastern sky was socked in…A depressing cloudbank of snow and wind… The western sky held the promise of sunshine and warmth…The mountains across the Basin were…
