Annual Checkup

Posted on October 17, 2018

Hey, the cows get preg tested every fall… the bulls have to do their tests, too!  It’s only fair… Our vet has a tremendous sense of humor.   He has this on the side of his pull behind trailer… though we reminded him we were working BULLS today! Bulls are checked to see if they…

Paper Folded Pumpkin

Posted on October 15, 2018

I made this for the Harvest Dinner raffle.  It was my first try, and not a very good one… but I now have the process figured out if I ever want to try it again.  It’s amazing what detail some people can accomplish in their book folding!  I’m happy enough with my funny little jack-o-lantern!

#TBT : The Hunt

Posted on October 12, 2018

If you’re not a fan of hunting… leave quickly. I know many of you just love the old ranch photos I post for #tbt.  I do too. I also sometimes feel that the Greet side of my family gets all the attention!  Well, I’m a Burton! While not raised on a ranch, my family was…

Grand Prismatic Spring

Posted on October 9, 2018

There’s really no more colorful and large geothermal feature in Yellowstone prettier than the Grand Prismatic Spring.  When Vernon suggested our trip, I immediately said I wanted to go to the Grand!  It’s not far from Old Faithful… and I knew it would be crowded.  It didn’t matter, because way back sometime, I’d discovered how,…

Yellowstone Steam

Posted on October 8, 2018

I mean, really… you HAVE to check out the steam in Yellowstone whether it’s from geysers, fumaroles, or vents.  We didn’t go to the most famous… Old Faithful gets all the publicity, but we’ve “been there/done that”, and we wanted to take the time to see the lesser known attractions. Roaring Mountain used to be…

One More Trip

Posted on October 7, 2018

Taking a little break from Yellowstone… with winter storm warnings appearing all over Wyoming, it was time to bring the cows off of our high mountain pasture. Yes, a little bit of winter had hit the day before, and we were prepared to ride in the freezing cold.  Truth was, it was a bit warmer…

Carol, Wyoming rancher

Since 2008, I’ve kept this photographic journal of life on our working Wyoming ranch.  I share ranch work, my family, crafts and DIY, my English Shepherds, Bravo and Indy, and a love for this land.  Enjoy this red dirt country!
