Looking Good

Posted on November 27, 2024

I was back to work at the library for my first full day since the end of September. It’s the big push to get ready for all of our December activities, so I spent the day decorating the library. However, there was no climbing ladders for me! Our high standard of decorating to the max…

Step by Step

Posted on November 26, 2024

Another physical therapy day and I continue to improve. My 30 minutes on an exercise bike is now joined by short walks with hiking sticks. I continue to walk crooked, favoring a knee that no longer needs favored. Striding out balanced by the poles should help. Of course, I hike on the highway, preferring its…

Return

Posted on November 25, 2024

Vernon and I drove the side by side up the mountain. We knew a few inches of snow lay on the ground but were unsure of how drifted it would be and if we could make it to our destination. Vernon, however, is a determined and talented driver. My new little tables are in place….

Ten Sleep School

Posted on November 24, 2024

After the girls’ basketball game, some of us were hanging around, with a little time to kill before our next event. Our school superintendent offered a quick tour of Ten Sleep’s new school and I jumped on the opportunity. I’ve been wanting to see it but haven’t ever had a chance. I swear our school…

Once Again

Posted on November 23, 2024

I attended the granddaughters’ last middle school basketball game today. As fifth graders, we’re happy if they control their dribbles, passes, and attempt a few baskets. The refs were very good with them, explaining calls, giving fist bumps of encouragement, and, thankfully, not calling all of the traveling calls they could have made. I gave…

Collected Stories 13

Posted on November 22, 2024

The following is part of the papers in the Oscar Hoback collection as collected by Edna Greet. The Hole-in-the-Wall      No two names in Wyoming are so well known to the outside world as the Hole-in-the-Wall and Powder river. To many they epitomize all that might be written of our lawlessness, our feuds and…

Throwback Thursday: Fun, v.2.0

Posted on November 21, 2024

This was first published November 21, 2014. Started off the morning by zipping to Ten Sleep School.  I honestly don’t visit there much, my interest has waned since my kids all graduated… and the biggest visit may be to haul some books over for a teacher or student.  Today, though, they had an inspirational speaker…

bleh

Posted on November 19, 2024

Just when my knee is almost healed, I get knocked down by a cold and have spent the past couple days vegging even more in the recliner. I’m rather tired of this. Then it snowed and was 10 degrees outside this morning with icy roads. Even if I wanted to go out for a walk,…

Back in the Day

Posted on November 19, 2024

So many of the old photos I’m going through are those of the Greet family. Not near as many belong to Vernon’s mother’s family, the Alexanders. I know very little about them other than Milton Alexander was caught up in the Spring Creek Raid as one of the “raiders” on that unfortunate night. After being…

Turkeys

Posted on November 17, 2024

Until a few years ago, there were no wild turkeys in this area. Now, it’d be nice if we could sell pasture raised turkeys for a side hustle! Yes, those are all turkeys… and I couldn’t fit more into my frame, but there were more!

Felting

Posted on November 16, 2024

I led another needle felting class at the library. Most people had taken one before and this time we used kits so people could take it home to finish. I chose a fox to do. It was kind of cutesy, not completely accurate… and where were her front legs? Of course, everyone’s fox will look…

Carol, Wyoming rancher

Since 2008, I’ve kept this photographic journal of life on our working Wyoming ranch.  I share ranch work, my family, crafts and DIY, my English Shepherds, Bravo and Indy, and a love for this land.  Enjoy this red dirt country!
