Throwback Thursday: Getting Closer, v.2.0

Posted on March 14, 2024

This was first posted March 13, 2014. I need a project like this again… Well, it was back to the Good Ol’ Art Studio Project the other day…  I worked a bit with some chinking… some cleaning… some organization… but best of all… I managed to get some insulation up! Just about ready for some…

In Good Time

Posted on March 11, 2024

The first move of our Sandhills Method was today. If you remember from last year, we’ve begun following this Nebraska born idea. With the heifers almost all calved out, our cows are starting their turn calving. The cows have been in a large field… and those that have calved are left behind with their babies……

Anyone?

Posted on March 10, 2024

So this is my needle felted bag as it stands now… a bit more progress than the last pic I shared of it. I’m contemplating entering it or some other item in a wool art show this summer… but, even though I like it, I don’t feel like it works with the bag. It’s just…

Better Day

Posted on March 9, 2024

An absolute gorgeous day… and I was in charge of three little ones… so a few games, some roasted hot dogs, and an adventure around the pond filled our day. The ice has barely retreated from shore but stout enough that the inevitable rocks that were thrown didn’t break through. We did make discoveries. Lacee…

Reminiscing XVI

Posted on March 8, 2024

This story is from James Greet, written in 1991 about his life as a cowboy in the 1940’s. Sometime early one fall, I was to go down to a place on Spring Creek to get two heifers that belonged to Allan Egbert. This would be a full days job. I was told just what pasture…

Throwback Thursday: Someone Cares, v.2.0

Posted on March 7, 2024

This was first posted March 11, 2014. Sometimes, you need a little help. Sometimes, it just takes a guiding hand to get you headed in the right direction. Sometimes, someone cares enough to help.

We Shall See!

Posted on March 5, 2024

More babies! We even had our first set of twins in a few years! I haven’t seen them yet, but… yay! Trying to make our life “easier”… we set up a pen in the field between the pastures. Mommas and babies sometimes have troubles keeping track of one another until a day or two have…

Busy Morning

Posted on March 4, 2024

It was a busy night, so it turned into a busy morning for me when I showed up to help. Six pens in the main shed were full. (Two inside) Three in the outside pen. Then four in the new pen… And maybe another one, I can’t remember! I helped Brandon as he tagged and…

Misadventure

Posted on March 3, 2024

Well, I had good intentions. Quinlan and I went down to help out at the calving shed. The plan was to do whatever… but cleaning pens of used wet straw was going to be our priority. But first, those calves that had been weighed and tagged would have to be moved out of their comfy…
