Posted on February 12, 2026February 12, 2026

Wow, ten years since they built the first feeder, then they modified the design and built another! My guys always impress me. Oh, and we’re feeding on the Cogdill Place… how I miss that place… time marches on. This was first posted February 13, 2016. Video!  Yay! Years ago, the guys started working on building…

Throwback Thursday: To the Rescue, v.2.0

Posted on November 6, 2025November 6, 2025

By far, one of the most unique experiences I’ve ever had! This was first posted November 4, 2015. One of the best things about living out here is how different each day can be!  Today started with a dog walk, typical, at least once again since hunting season is over. Today I chose to walk…

Haying Season – Video

Posted on June 22, 2025June 22, 2025

This video covers our haying season step by step. When each field is ready, Daniel cuts it using a discbine. It is offset from the tractor, so you don’t run over the field as you cut it. Fields may be grass, alfalfa, oats, sordan, or like the first one shown here, triticale. Daniel is an…

Calving Video

Posted on March 22, 2025March 22, 2025

The first video I’ve made in a long time! 875 was kind enough to let me film her calving, keeping the important bits aimed my way. She’s a good momma!

Freezing in the Past

Posted on January 20, 2025January 20, 2025

With the snow and fog and cold temperatures, (-14* this morning), Vernon was talking about how glad he was to not have to pitch hay from a bouncing hay trailer anymore. I agreed. Granted, I didn’t do it as much as he has, but I did my time… and I wondered if I had an…

Heifers – The Movie

Posted on September 21, 2024

From the wintery weather of March, branding, moving, feeding, then AI, blood testing, hauling, trailing, gathering, and trailing again… it comes down to this. These 18 month old heifers must pass this final test. If they fail to be pregnant, they will be sold. No matter their breeding or their looks, they must fit in…

Throwback Thursday: Ranch Kids Rule!, v.2.0

Posted on August 8, 2024

This was first posted August 10, 2014. Look at how he’s grown! Daniel and Vernon were working on a pipeline… Tess and the kids stopped by to watch… I stopped by on my way home from the library… It looked like a party! There stood little Jaxon, next to a well head.  This well has…

Throwback Thursday: Bottle Baby Video, v.2.0

Posted on April 11, 2024

This was first published April 11, 2014. See who makes a cameo at the end! Cattle don’t usually give birth to twins, and we’ve found that it is best to leave just one calf with its momma, and take the other one away. This one will be bottle fed until a new mother can be…

Lost Calf Video

Posted on March 26, 2024

Yay! I did it! I couldn’t make it on my big computer, so my iPad bailed me out. It’s kind of a quick job, but it works. This goes along with my post from two days ago… looking for the “lost” calf that two mommas had ignored when they both claimed the same baby. Enjoy!

#TBT: Minute Movie:Trailing By, v.2.0

Posted on November 2, 2023

This was first published November 1, 2012. This Minute Movie is twice as long as normal… but I just couldn’t resist the peacefulness that saturates this video! We are letting the cows trail by… Vernon on horseback in the middle of the gate, getting a good count as they walk past.  Daniel leaves my side,…
