Mix and Match

Posted on November 7, 2022

After the first half of the herd had been sorted and trailed to their pastures, we decided to break for lunch. Megan and Brandon and I had our horses, and they tied theirs with halters to the corral. I had no halter, and was too lazy to walk to the barn to get one. I…

Broke

Posted on November 6, 2022

Cows were off the Mesa and settled in the Double Crossing overnight. We were to begin riding, gathering them and bringing about half of them into the corral. Half simply because our corral cannot hold them all at once. Vernon and I drove in to the home place and cows came running. We were driving…

A Few More

Posted on November 5, 2022

I hope you’ll forgive me a few more images… This is such a scenic spot and the light was nice… Don’t think I was purposefully ignoring Brandon or Daniel in my photos… they were, for the most part, way too far away to photograph. In fact, Daniel said he had the gate open for 33…

This Works For Me

Posted on November 4, 2022

I’m days behind in photos and activities. Some days I’m just too tired to make worthwhile posts! So Sunday was the day Vernon and I had turned off the water in the canyon… Then Monday, we gathered the Mesa Pasture and brought the cows down to our Double Crossing Pasture. Yes, it was Halloween. As…

#TBT: On the Trail, v.2.0

Posted on November 3, 2022

This was first posted November 4, 2011. Brandon, Megan, and Quinlan arrived late last night… and we sent the parents to bed and watched Quinlan for them!  He’d slept for most of the 6 hour drive, so he wasn’t ready to sleep more here!  I crashed at 3 am… Vernon, who had a few hours…

Favorite

To continue our canyon journey from Monday… Vernon pulled the submersible pump and put it away for the winter. A large tree has fallen into the creek and a huge rock has fallen in the middle of the trail. Never the less, the canyon is one of my favorite places on the ranch…

Water Observations

Posted on October 31, 2022

Time flies and it’s telling us it’s time to bring the cows off the mesa pasture. That also means it’s time to shut down the water system for the year. We’ll bring the cows down tomorrow, today Vernon and I ventured out to take the first steps in stopping the water we seem to work…

Suggested Donation

Posted on October 29, 2022

Met with some of the nicest ladies today in order to make journals. The Friends of the Ten Sleep Library upcycle journals from old books as a fundraiser. We take donated, unwanted books, cut them apart, and save a few pages. Then we add assorted papers cut to size. We have boxes of donated scrapbooking…

And They Did

Posted on October 28, 2022

I drove down today to see the final product of yet another water project. We had laid this pipeline last year, I believe… but the end had simply run into a pond. There’s nothing wrong with that, but it will freeze over and cows will walk in it and sometimes it’ll be muddy… so they…

#TBT: Favorite Touches, v.2.0

Posted on October 27, 2022

It’s so much fun to look back on my house renovation photos from 2011. I tried to find my ”ant hill stones” post, I know I made one! Anyway, the border in my bathroom is made from the small stones out of an ant hill… and it looks great in these early photos! This was…
