Stop

Posted on August 4, 2012April 3, 2015

I apologize for last night… I sat down to write and poof! no internet.

OH, YAY.

I just LOVE when that happens.

So, I was blessed with a “night off”, although my half hour of pitiful troubleshooting should count for *something*!

Meanwhile.

Vernon’s been reworking a tiny reservoir in our mountain pasture… this time he’s trying some plastic in the base to see if that might help.  He needed a hand, so Daniel and T. and I jumped in the pickup, lunch coolers in hand, to spend a nice afternoon on the mountain.

It wasn’t tough duty…

Lay out the plastic in proper position…

Then weight it down and cover with more dirt and rocks.

Voila!

A couple of hours of work, then Daniel, T., and I headed home… leaving Vernon to move more dirt on his own.  The smoke from the Lame Deer Fire just over the border in Montana, swooped in and ruined our view…

Huh.

The Big Horn Mountains have suddenly turned into the Smokey Mountains!

You can stop that at any time.

Seriously.

STOP!

(Best wishes to the people of Lame Deer and surrounding areas.)

Carol, Wyoming rancher

Since 2008, I’ve kept this photographic journal of life on our working Wyoming ranch.  I share ranch work, my family, crafts and DIY, my English Shepherds, Bravo and Indy, and a love for this land.  Enjoy this red dirt country!
