Best of the Rockies Horse Sale

Posted on May 10, 2014

Well, we’ve done it before… Winchester came from there, and so did Panama.  They now call it The Best of the Rockies Horse Sale, and it is held in downtown Cody, Wyoming, in front of the historic Irma Hotel.

Yesterday, they held a ranch horse competition, and then this morning they had a preview which we attended.  It’s the time to show off what your horse can do.  We had some early favorites.

buckskin

This buckskin, which won the ranch horse competition yesterday, I expected to go for a high price.

This roan was gorgeous, minus the four white feet.  Quite the Western Pleasure horse… but had never really been used on cattle.

Daniel tried out a few…

Then we went back and talked to a few more people!

The one I really liked in the catalog, turned out to be a much smaller horse than I had anticipated.  I was bummed.

So?  Which one did we end up with?????

Sorry… you’ll just have to watch to see who’s coming home in the trailer in tomorrow’s post!

What a happy way to spend a day! Thank you sharing; I’ll look forward
to see which one you bought. I LOVE Cody, too. It’s been way too long
since I traveled to the West.

Years ago went to Montana looking for a buckskin. Only found Music Mount breeding, so passed. Can’t wait to see new partner.

Love Cody! Museum was great. Breakfast at the Irma was delicious. Would love to go back.
