Rain, Rain… So Far

Posted on May 12, 2018May 12, 2018

Once again, there were those Best Laid Plans…

Today was supposed to be spent gathering a pasture, moving the cows and calves to another one in preparation for branding on Saturday.  We’ve been watching the weather reports constantly increasing the chance of rain and then, sure enough, they posted a Winter Storm Warning.

You can’t brand wet calves.  Or snow covered ones.

While the rain didn’t start as early as predicted, right now it is raining along.  Poor Victoria had even taken a day off work to come help… so she and Daniel went ahead and kicked some cows out off the drift fence.  I helped Brandon a bit before I figured Victoria and Daniel would be in the right spot for some good photos.  They obliged.

What is a “drift fence” compared to just a fence ?
