#TBT: May Snow

Posted on June 1, 2018

I recently received some old family photos… and scrolling through them on my computer, it was hard to choose which to share first.

I finally decided on this series of three pics taken May 4, 1929.  Now we’re just rolling into June of 2018, so these are 89 years old.  They belonged to Wyoma Pyle, who was my father-in-law’s (Johnny’s) aunt.  They homesteaded a few miles up the mountain from our place, and we can drive by and can see their cabin still standing.  I’m assuming that is where this photo was taken.

Anyway… it’s impressive.  Wyoma *maybe* stood 5′ tall… on a good day.  I’m also assuming that’s her on the top of the haystack, throwing hay down onto the wagon. Her husband Jim would be the one with the team… at least if my assumptions are all correct!

That much snow in May is pretty amazing! And both the horse team and the young couple working as a team makes me wonder if they had any other help?

Love these photos. Love the name Wyoma too. That’s good, old fashioned pioneer grit caught on camera.
