Ranch Living Video

Posted on April 10, 2021April 10, 2021

This video for the blog, Red Dirt In My Soul, covers the end of February to the fifth of March, 2021. My final video of Valentino, the highway mountain lion kittens, more calving videos from milking mommas to bedding them down with straw… a little feeding from the pickup and spring snow completes this video.

Always enjoy the videos and this one prompted a question. Are calves born with teeth? I assume they are for eating grass and hay???

Yes, calves do have teeth when they are born, but like all cattle, they only have teeth on the bottom. The top is a simple flat gum that they pinch the grass against to rip it off. Calves may mouth the hay, but don’t seriously eat it for a while.
