Our busy schedule from July 27 – August 13, 2021 is reflected here. I make many trips up the mountain with grandkids and Bravo to check a water tank. It plugs up easily and since it’s one of only two sources of water in the pasture, we have to check it every day. On our trips we find a Mormon cricket and a treasure! I take some friends fishing and gather chokecherries, grapes, and raspberries for some jelly. We gather cows and Bravo gets practice. A friend finds an old truck he used to drive. Then there are bulls just being bulls and I share the power of them as they rock the trailer!
Find me here!
Jaxson was really impressive managing Lucy. She’s way bigger that he is.
I’ve been watching a vet on video and it occurred to me that all of yours are dehorned. Does the good vet do that or do you do it yourselves? (They show the dehorning and it’s a bit gross!)
Angus are basically a polled breed, meaning they don’t have the gene for horns. When we ran Herefords and Hereford/Angus crosses, we had to check for horns as a baby calf. They have a paste that you apply that stops the growth of the horn before it really starts. Yes, dehorning a fully formed horn is gross, but sometimes necessary.
Jaxon is quite the showman!
Mormon cricket? Yikes! And I thought our crickets were big!
Arrowheads are super cool finds! All the HOURS I spent looking in NM and I only found one! An itsy bitsy obsidian bird point! And only because it glinted briefly in the sun.
Bravo is looking great!
The arrowhead and Mormon cricket WERE quite the finds! as well as the old truck for your friend and former driver. It was great seeing Jaxson showing his cow with pride and skill. I thought the bulls that are rocking and rolling in the truck was pretty funny! There is definitely something for everyone to enjoy in this video. Thanks for taking the time to create it.
