Chasing Grass

Posted on April 2, 2023

Well, we had 6-8” of snow on the ground two days ago, and it’s gone today. Anything slightly tilted to the south is dry, but snow remains on the north sides of hills, and there’s still plenty of mud in spots. Never fear, there’s a winter storm warning out for the next few days, with major snow and cold coming back once again. Oh. Yay.

I really shouldn’t complain, we’ve not been hit as hard as many ranchers around the state.

The grass is tiny but it’s turning green and the cows are spread out chasing this grass.

The greenest things here in So. Cal. are the weeds! They are growing like, well, weeds. Nasty things like burr clover, fox tails, and Herron’s Beak.

Green! I had friends who moved to the West for awhile and said they missed the “green” back East! I guess if there is some green grass appearing on your lands, the cows will find it.
