It’s strange sometimes, how little details combine into a new experience. I had noticed in one booth was artwork on horse nose bags. We used these at Girl Scout National Center West and I’m very well acquainted with these canvas bags that hold feed. Ours were dirty as expected, these were white and gorgeous. Then on the tables used as tablecloths were horse pack tarps. Pack tarps are the protective canvas covers put over panniers that hold whatever you’ve packed on a horse. Between the artistic nose bags and decorative pack tarps, I knew I needed to talk to the artist.
As she waited on a customer, I overheard them talking about “Meeker”. Now if you own a herding dog, you’ve probably heard of the Meeker Sheepdog Trials. It had just happened, so when the customer left, I asked her if she had attended Meeker as a vendor. No, she told me, I organize it!
Meet Mary “Maym” Cunningham. As we visited, she asked my name. Carol Greet. I’m from Ten Sleep. “Oh, you’re Victoria’s mom!” Turns out, she used to live in Kaycee and knows my daughter! I went to sheepdog trials they had there… turns out, it was held on her old ranch! Then I mentioned that Cat Urbigkit had just gone there, and, of course, she knew Cat. (If you haven’t read Cat’s latest column, you SHOULD!
Needless to say, we have much in common!
