After lunch, Vernon hung around the house for a while, waiting for a phone call. When it didn’t come, he decided he’d make a quick run out to the Mills Pasture to work on the fence. I tagged along… looking for a nature fix. Our first stop was a section of fence I hadn’t seen….

Silent Auction/Open House
It was a packed house. Over one hundred people attended the library’s Open House/Silent Auction, which for a town of just over 200, is pretty dog gone good. There was plenty of good food and wassail. Craig Johnson, New York Times best selling author of the Longmire Mystery Series, regaled us with his Christmas short…
Just Us
I should have done so many things today… but I didn’t. It was grey, overcast, windy, and snowy at times and the temperature plummeted rapidly. It’s been unusually warm and mild, and we need the snow and the moisture it brings. It is December… Unfortunately, it didn’t bring much snow, but it still made you…

Entry
Like yesterday’s post about the Festival of Trees entry, today our entry for this year’s festival was set up. This cute little tree shaped chair boasts white lights on the back, Santa ornaments edge the tree chair, with Santa’s hat and cowboy boots nearby. “Snowy days and warm hearts” is a sign on the front….
#TBT: Panic and White Knuckles, v.2.0
This was first posted December 3, 2010. I don’t know if I should title this entry, “Panic” or “White Knuckles”. After falling asleep while trying to watch the National Finals Rodeo… I awoke to a dog’s snuffling nose at my bedside. Grabbing ten more seconds of warmth, I tossed back the covers and…

Cattle on the Go Video
This video covers from October 8 – 16, 2021. We preg test a small bunch at a leased pasture we call the Homestead. The old buildings are quite the scenic backdrop for my photos. Because the dirt road was too muddy for a pickup and horse trailer, we gathered our mountain pasture on four wheelers….
Squee!
I didn’t expect them to arrive so soon, but what a nice surprise to have waiting for me when I arrived home from decorating the library! I’ve just spoiled the surprise for my family… they all get one for Christmas… but I had to share!
Glow
As I was working on putting out Christmas decorations… in almost 60˚ weather, I might add… the sky began to glow. I had to run inside for my phone. It was just inside the door, I wasn’t going to waste light looking for my camera! There’s no filter going on here, just a bittersweet orange…
Fourth
It’s the beginning of holiday season… and around here, it’s also the beginning of birthday season. It seems like we’re always celebrating someone’s birthday from November through January… Today, I got to take Reagan’s fourth birthday photos… Yeah. Tough duty.
New Tags
Today we did a smidge of work, retagging our heifers. The calculations have been done to choose which girls get their full membership here at Greet Ranch. Ancestry/genetics, calving due date, looks, size, weight gain, and which bull they’re bred to, all factor in to choosing them for permanent residents of our herd. The tags…
