Little House

Posted on July 13, 2020July 13, 2020

There’s been plenty of 5 am mornings lately. I prefer not to be an early riser, 6 or 6:30 is my preferred wake-up call. If I’m not riding, I’m babysitting, so it doesn’t really matter because the kids will arrive before the time called for saddling horses. Tomorrow is saddling at 6 am… but here…

Re-Red: June 28 – July 4, 2020

Posted on July 12, 2020July 12, 2020

I started this early today… good thing, too, as we lost power for about 3 hours this evening! Though many of you were probably hoping this week’s Re-Red would include video of the elk, remember, Re-Red is from the last week, not the current one! You are lucky, because obviously you know where to come…

Sweet

Posted on July 11, 2020July 11, 2020

Before time gets away from me… I need to share what happened on the 3rd of July. Ten Sleep had its 75th Rodeo on the 3rd and 4th. You know how I love taking rodeo pictures… usually. I wasn’t overly enthusiastic about it this year… and it was HOT. And I had spent the day…

Job Security

Posted on July 10, 2020July 10, 2020

We’re getting slammed with work… cows to move every which way! I’m trying to help when I can, so I was sent to the mountain to work with Brandon. He was going to fix fence. Now that’s a job I don’t mind doing. We were very intent on looking along the fence line… seeing that…

#TBT: A Hot Move, v.2.0

Posted on July 9, 2020July 9, 2020

This was first posted July 10, 2009. The  problem: Cows on the fence… they want to leave for the cooler mountain, but it isn’t time yet. Some dirty cows even are IN the field! Then there are the troublemakers… Lucas and Elsa have success! Lucas makes it to Bruner Draw… and goes looking for a…

Back To It

Posted on July 7, 2020July 7, 2020

You may recall I talked about potholder rugs back in early February, back before the world stumbled. Well, I’m back at them! I made one for my sister… This one I called the Continental… it reminds me of the colors of the Continental Army, navy blue, tan, and white with red accents. I traded this…

Kid Branding Portraits

Posted on July 6, 2020July 6, 2020

Last week we had seven calves that needed branded. Somehow or another they had missed out on the other days we branded. Since all eight cousins were here, it was definitely going to be a kids’ branding. Daniel and Brandon just “legged them out”, meaning one just grabbed a hind leg and the other “busted”,…

Re-Red: June 21 – June 27, 2020

Posted on July 5, 2020July 5, 2020

This week on Re-Red… Pronghorn antelope, Quinlan’s artistic photos, moving cattle with Bravo along learning the ropes, and the Indian Blanket wildflower. I think I’ve found that I just love to be with kids that have to investigate their world… catching grasshoppers and minnows… learning and experiencing their world! It’s so unbelievably fun to watch…

#TBT: “A Find”, v.2.0

Posted on July 2, 2020July 2, 2020

This was first posted July 9, 2009. I know someone who found something and then, wonder of wonders, returned it to the closest owner available. Her husband is a carpenter and was remodeling an old cabin.  Tucked away in the bottom of an old cabinet, was this. Absolutely gorgeous, is it not??? Hand-tooled… spectacular. It…
