Corral Improvement

Posted on October 30, 2018

One thing about ranches… there’s always room for improvements or repairs! The guys just finished up this project and it looks great!  Best of all, it works great, too.  While the huge cedar tree posts were good for many years, they wear down and sag, and some of the gates had special combinations, like, lift…

Moving Calves

Posted on October 29, 2018

Since weaning, the calves have been living a good life on some of our fields… but it’s time for fresh feed, so we gathered up a good crew and headed out. Calves can be an excitable lot, and were for brief periods… it doesn’t help when my dog is beside herself to go! The way…

Witchy

Posted on October 28, 2018

And her name is… RAVEN! I hope to give her a mascot at some point! She flies in the wind, by the way… and on Halloween I plan on putting some green glow in the dark sticks under her hat! oooooooooooooo…..

#TBT: Kennedy

Posted on October 26, 2018

Maybe the title is a bit misleading… Everyone expects President Kennedy when I say that… but for this Throwback Thursday, I’m talking about Kennedy Underwood, my great-grandfather.  I barely know anything about him… Born in Indian Territory (Oklahoma), about 1860, he died in 1915. This photo is a copy of a copy of a copy……

Witch Win?

Posted on October 24, 2018October 23, 2018

After fighting wind, blowing leaves, and an unstable little witch… I moved my witch building project into my garage. She’s not finished.  Oh, no… there’s going to be much more to her before I let her fly! She is on duty to dry up her act while I work at the library the next few days!…

Witch Fail

Posted on October 23, 2018

She started off as just a few pieces of trash… I was trying to get just her body shape correct… My sister had bought me a great witch’s broom from Ace Hardware… and I found an old shovel handle to take its place while I experimented.  This looked pretty wonky at this point!  I made…

New Jack

Posted on October 22, 2018

I had a little fun today. This pile of spray foam was made when we had our shop insulated.  To clean their gun, the people emptied the last bit into a pile… and I snagged it, knowing someday I would get creative with it. A few minutes later… He needed something… Though he reminds me…

More Prep

Posted on October 21, 2018

The guys spent time re-roofing shops and sheds from the hail damage earlier this year… replacing ancient asphalt shingles with tin.  At the end, I told them how, in college, I helped re-roof some houses in Casper after a hail storm there.  Of course, we were putting *on* asphalt shingles… and that certainly didn’t qualify…

Winter Prep

Posted on October 20, 2018

Spent the day prepping for winter… roll up hoses, finish that shelf in the garage to hold my cold frame and lawn chairs, pick up toys out of the yard… nothing great, but the standard maintenance anyone with outdoor space has to do! When the first snow came, and I hadn’t done any of this,…

#TBT : 1962 Meat Supply

Posted on October 19, 2018

When I said I grew up on wild game… I wasn’t kidding. This is my dad skinning his deer in the back yard… strung up on mom’s clothesline pole!  My older sister and brother are there… and that little blondie with the squished up face is me!  For some weird juvenile period in my life,…
