Early Mornings

Posted on July 14, 2018

When it’s getting into the 90’s during the day, you move cows at sunrise to try to beat the heat.  Lately, some of the mornings haven’t been that cool, either.  The ol’ girls know it’s cooler up high, so they’re pretty ready to hike uphill!  Thank goodness!

Life and Work Continue

Posted on July 11, 2018July 10, 2018

It was soooo hard to write yesterday’s post, as I’m sure you can realize… But the outpouring of sympathy for Lucas is amazing.  I’m very glad I got to share him here with you.  Your words mean so much… and I stopped by his grave tonight to tell him about you and your comments… I…

The End of a Journey

Posted on July 10, 2018July 9, 2018

How do you start?  How do you begin to tell the story when your heart is ripped out and tears pour from your eyes?  Your fingers spend as much time wiping your eyes and nose as they do typing.  This is the post all dog owners know they will write at some point.  The one…

Poor Thing

Posted on July 9, 2018July 8, 2018

A little side track… please indulge me. On the way home from our Girl Scout staff reunion, I spotted this poor mule deer.  Well, he crossed the road right in front of me, so he was hard to miss!  I thought at first that he was covered in burdock… but that wasn’t the case. He…

Lift Your Spirits

Posted on July 8, 2018July 7, 2018

Today was the official day for the Girl Scout National Center West reunion.  Working for this fantastic national camp was the way I ended up in Ten Sleep.  Seventy former staff and campers gathered at what is now the Nature Conservancy’s Ten Sleep Preserve.  We talked and looked at photos and slides and hiked and…

Catch Up

Posted on July 7, 2018July 6, 2018

No, you haven’t seen any posts from me lately.  Tons of stuff going on… the holiday, company, cow work, and other dreadful, heart wrenching things… I will catch you up on everything in due course, but I just didn’t want you to think that I’d stopped blogging.  Heaven forbid! Tonight I can handle this… We…

Quick Introduction

Posted on July 1, 2018

I’d like to present to you… Buttercup! A friend gave her to us!  She’s a miniature horse, not a pony… and very sweet.  Obviously good for braiding manes and tail!  She also came with a cart, which I just repaired today… that will be an adventure for us!  Vernon and Johnny will have to help…

Carol, Wyoming rancher

Since 2008, I’ve kept this photographic journal of life on our working Wyoming ranch.  I share ranch work, my family, crafts and DIY, my English Shepherds, Bravo and Indy, and a love for this land.  Enjoy this red dirt country!
