Happy Campers

Posted on October 17, 2016

I spent hours painting on the old shop remodel… my shoulder is tired, but I’m far from finished and then there’s that pesky second coat. The shop does look wonderful though, and I’ll soon show you some blow by blow photos… It’s now foam insulated and finished out with OSB and rigid insulation. Highlight of…

Harvest Dinner

Posted on October 16, 2016October 15, 2016

Once again, our little Harvest Dinner was a great fundraiser for the Ten Sleep Ambulance and Friends of the Ten Sleep Library. With quilts, artwork, handcrafted items, unique baskets full of themed merchandise, jewelry, fall decorations, signs, books, food, scarves; it all added up to a successful benefit. I’d like to thank those that donated,…

Rescued

Posted on October 15, 2016

It’s that time of year again. Hunting season. The roads are crazy busy. There are hunting camps everywhere. People from mainly Wisconsin and Minnesota, but California and Arizona and Colorado and other places have descended into Wyoming. Collision Orange is the color of the season. Most are here for deer.  Others elk.  A few for…

#TBT: Cowgirls

Posted on October 14, 2016October 13, 2016

These girls are having a grand time trying on cowboy hats and holding up pairs of chaps.  This was originally entitled “Girls with Chaps”.

Trailing Down

Posted on October 11, 2016October 10, 2016

Saddle at 7.  Drive up the mountain.  Unload.  Start taking pics and video to share with you! The cows went pretty good until the Slope Pasture and. then. they. would. not. move. Yell and whistle. Chase through the rocks and down the hill. Panama is tired.  Eden is tired. Break for lunch at the bottom…

Mountain Snow

Posted on October 10, 2016October 9, 2016

I was prepared. Flannel lined jeans.  Four layers (tshirt, flannel shirt, sweatshirt, Carhartt jacket).  Gloves, scarf. It wasn’t the snow, up on the mountain, it’s the Wind.  But actually, it was kinda nice!  If the wind died down or I was in the trees or down in a bottom, I was overdressed.  But on the…

Craig Johnson Visit

Posted on October 9, 2016October 8, 2016

A quick visit from my ol’ buddy… He was speaking at a book signing/dinner over at the Red Reflet Ranch.  It was Extremely Nice to only have to drive 13 miles to a superb supper and enjoyable visit with Craig and Judy Johnson.  And, in case you haven’t been watching, his latest book, An Obvious…

Looking for a Calendar Shot

Posted on October 8, 2016October 7, 2016

Last Monday, we cancelled our preg testing because of weather.  It rained and was cold… and we just decided it wasn’t worth being wet and miserable.  Well, today was the ‘replacement day’ and when the rain started pouring down last night, we began to wonder if we would be doing it today as well.  A…

#TBT: Headcatch

Posted on October 7, 2016October 6, 2016

Since not long ago you saw our vet’s nice hydraulic chute  that we use to pregtest our cows, I thought I’d share this old photo. It looks like a 2×6 and some hip action held the cow’s head in place, for whatever they were doing…  I’m not sure about the bigger bottom angled board and…

Carol, Wyoming rancher

Since 2008, I’ve kept this photographic journal of life on our working Wyoming ranch.  I share ranch work, my family, crafts and DIY, my English Shepherds, Bravo and Indy, and a love for this land.  Enjoy this red dirt country!
